Gianduiotto and Cremino are the most famous of Piedmontese confectionery. Both are made from gianduja – a delicious creamy chocolate paste with finely ground hazelnuts. The result is a smooth silky chocolate. Based on the tricorn hat worn by the character Gianduja of the Italian Commedia dell’Arte, Gianduiotto are always triangular in shape and normally wrapped in gold paper. Cremino are a 3 layered chocolate, the outer layers made with gianduja while the inner is made with various flavoured pastes such as coffee, lemon, or hazelnut.
